LEADING RENEWABLES ENGINEER PARTNERS WITH FOOTPRINT ZERO

James Hoare

We are delighted to announce that James Hoare is partnering with the Footprint Zero team as our lead engineering consultant.  James is one of the most experienced utility power systems engineers in the UK, with 32 years’ experience in the sector, of which the last 23 have been in renewable energy systems.

James has worked for a number of major energy organisations including CEGB (now National Grid), GEC (now Alsthom), ESB International, Parsons Brinkerhoff, and for last eight years has run LHW Partnership LLP, a specialist technical consultancy.   He was involved with the grid connection of the UK’s first commercial wind farm at Delabole in 1991 and has been extensively involved with solar PV since 2000, including off grid, domestic, public sector, commercial and large-scale projects.  James sits on a number of renewable energy technical advisory panels and is an associate for the BRE National Solar Centre.

He is an Engineering Council Registered Chartered Engineer (Electrical, Energy & Energy Management) having completed a BSc Electrical Engineering Degree at The City University London, and an MBA at The Open University.  His knowledge covers feasibility, design, project management, O&M and verification and validation.   James holds additional technical expertise in heat pumps, solar thermal and energy management.

In conjunction with James’ extensive experience within solar PV, his knowledge on battery storage solutions is equally as deep. The blend of solar PV solutions and battery storage is a powerful one for owners and investors looking to add renewables to a property or portfolio. Batteries can make a significant improvement to the proportion of demand that is met and thus being able to bring this technology to Footprint Zero projects is of immense benefit to our partners and clients.

Julian Pertwee, one of Footprint Zero’s founding directors, commented:  “James is an extremely strong asset to the Footprint Zero team and his experience is critical as we develop and fulfill solar solutions for an increasing portfolio of commercial clients throughout the country.   With continued focus on renewable energy by the government and institutions, and as solar is now recognised as the future ‘king of electricity’, it is important that we have the right people in place to drive smart solar solutions for a sustainable future.”
